Orion Physical Therapy

Recovering stronger after surgery, not just recovering

Surgery fixes the structure — the ligament, the joint, the disc. It doesn’t rebuild the strength, motion and confidence you need to actually use it again. That’s rehab’s job, and it’s the difference between patients who get back to normal and patients who get back to better than before.

Orion Physical Therapy provides post-surgical rehabilitation in Springville, serving South Utah County including Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Salem, Payson and Provo. Every visit is a full hour, one-on-one with a physical therapist — you’re never handed off to an aide or left doing exercises on your own in a hallway.

Surgeries and procedures we rehab

  • ACL, MCL and other knee ligament repairs. See also our knee pain page.
  • Meniscus repair or partial meniscectomy.
  • Total or partial knee replacement.
  • Rotator cuff repair and other shoulder surgery. See also our shoulder pain page.
  • Total or partial shoulder replacement.
  • Hip surgery, including labral repair and hip replacement.
  • Back surgery — discectomy, spinal fusion and decompression.
  • Still hurting after a spinal fusion? It is common to have lingering pain, stiffness or weakness months (or years) after fusion. We treat the segments above and below the fusion and the movement patterns around it — not just wait for time to fix it.
  • Ankle and foot surgery, including fracture repair.
  • Return-to-sport surgical recovery for athletes. See also our sports injury rehab page.

How we approach post-surgical recovery

Start where your surgeon left off. We coordinate with your surgeon’s protocol and timeline, so your rehab lines up with how the tissue is actually healing — not a generic schedule.

Manage pain and swelling early. Manual therapy, movement, and modalities like ice, compression and e-stim in the first phase, so you’re not stuck icing and waiting.

Restore motion without re-injury. Careful, progressive range-of-motion work to get the joint moving again while respecting what’s still healing.

Rebuild real strength. Once you’re cleared to load it, we build strength and stability around the surgical site on a plan that progresses week to week — this is what makes the recovery stick.

Test you against real life. Before we call it done, we test you against the actual movements you need — stairs, lifting, running, your sport, your job — not just a goniometer measurement.

Why Orion Physical Therapy

  • A full hour, every visit. One patient, one physical therapist — not passed between three people and a heat pack.
  • We coordinate with your surgeon. Your protocol and timeline drive the plan, not a generic post-op packet.
  • Whole-body recovery. We look at how the rest of your body is compensating, not just the surgical site, to help prevent the next injury.
  • Local and direct. Our Springville clinic serves Mapleton, Spanish Fork, Salem, Payson and Provo. Utah does not require a doctor’s referral to start — though most post-surgical patients begin under their surgeon’s care plan.
